BFA hands out post show awards

March 7th, 2006 · No Comments

Forget the Oscars, The British Federation of Audio has handed out its own headline awards… for the best exhibitors at the recent Bristol Sound and Vision show.
The BFA panel apparently examined every room and booth at the show at least twice during the event (well, it passed the time) and took advice from various trade and press visitors – just in case the visit to a room had been during an “off moment”. Ultimately, its three awards – Best Two Channel Demonstration, Best Multi-Channel Demonstration and Best Looking Exhibit “ went to Neat Acoustics, KEF Audio and Focal, respectively.
Sayeth the BFA: “Other companies such as Naim Audio and NHT came very close but the judges concluded that Neat Acoustics, with its simple well displayed room, good choice of music – played at a sensible level – just edged ahead. Focal, with two styles of room; one themed on a Euro living room and the other on a British living room had improved on last year and was just ahead of Naim with its excellent “Chill out” room. Both Focal and Neat Acoustics were winners last year and were particularly pleased to receive recognition once again.”
The Best Multi-Channel demonstration was apparently a close-run thing; KEF Audio eventually edged out Naim, to make that tearful acceptance speech.
Thank goodness Neat Acoustics kept its demos at a ‘sensible level,’ say we. The last thing anyone wants at a show is for the exhibitors to lose restraint and crank up the volume!
