Toshiba launches ‘super close’ projectors

March 13th, 2006 · No Comments

In an effort to popularize projection, Toshiba is introducing a pair of so-called ‘super close’ home cinema projectors. The ET10 and ET20 models are able to project a 0.65m image from just 20cm away from a wall; at 1.6m the image size jumps to 2.9m (diagonal). This makes them ideal for small rooms and dens.
Although not HD ready, these instant-theatre packages do come with an integrated sound system driven via a 30 Watt amplifier, and the ET20 even has a built-in DVD player.
Beneath the hood, both projectors use 480p chipset with a resolution of 854 x 480 and have video processing courtesy of a HQV Teranex chip from Silicon Optix and Toshiba’s own Motion Active Noise Reduction.
Connectivity includes S-Video, component video and HDMI. There’s also a USB port allowing users to insert a USB memory stick and play jpegs directly.
The ET10 and ET20 will be available in the UK from April 2006 priced at £1,099 and £1,299 respectively.
