It’s been the product of a major re-mastering project lasting several years, but now Universal Music has announced the imminent release of five albums by the Moody Blues on Super Audio CD. Available from the first week in April, the set will come as Deluxe Editions of the group’s original LPs and will include Days of Future Passed, In Search of the Lost Chord, To Our Children’s Children’s Children, On the Threshold of a Dream, and A Question of Balance. The project has involved going back to the original analogue master tapes of the Moody Blues 1970s albums and extensively reworking the 1970s era four-channel Quadraphonic mixes into contemporary 5.1 Surround Sound. Band member Justin Hayward was personally involved on the project, working on of the new audio mixes in Italy. The Deluxe Editions include bonus tracks and extensive sleeve notes and biographical details, and feature both stereo and surround audio mixes.
