Velodyne subwoofer product preview

March 22nd, 2006 · No Comments

The AV Zombie was recently taken out for lunch by Martin Moorecroft, the big man behind distributors Redline. Not news in itself, but Moorecroft confirmed that Velodyne’s best-selling SPL range of high-performance, ultra compact active subwoofers is shortly to be expanded. Joining models with 8, 10 and 12 inch drivers will be a new model with a 15 inch cone. The brand will also introduce an innovative in-wall subwoofer for the custom install community and is revamp it’s DD-18 subwoofer-with-EQ line. The new models will ship with USB ports, allowing them to better integrate with upcoming AMX and Crestron home automation products.
Moorecroft also confided that Redline has sold a couple of Velodyne’s humungous 175Kgs 1812 Signature subwoofers (2500W RMS, 6000W peak amplification onboard). “I never thought we would shift any, but there seems to be growing interest.” The proud owner lives in a million-plus apartment. Envy him, pity his neighbours¦
For the record, Mr Moorecroft ate Roast Lamb, while AV Zombie snarfed down smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Both parties failed to resist the on the dessert menu.
