Sony launches home cinema system stand

March 24th, 2006 · No Comments

When is AV furniture not AV furniture? When it’s the RHT-G1000 Integrated Home Theatre System from . Designed to partner the brand’s BRAVIA TV range, the unit is basically an all-in-one home cinema system built into a stand; it includes an integrated S-Master digital amplifier and offers S-Force PRO Front Surround digital signal processing, for a virtual surround soundfield without the need for rear speakers.
The unit comes in either Black or white and will sell for around £1000.
“The G1000 is there for people who want the experience of home cinema without the problems,” says Daniel Svoboda, Sony’s General Manager, Home Electronics Marketing Europe. “Let’s face it, the complexity and physical presence of surround sound speaker arrays is not for everyone. The G1000 cuts through all that, delivering the audio quality without the clutter, which for many people is the perfect solution.” That’s as may be.
Having seen the unit at a special preview in Sony’s Japanese HQ last December, the AV Zombie is unclear whether it’s a great idea or a bomb. Perhaps the biggest problem is that it’s just a bit to ugly to partner with a nice slick looking flatscreen
