While much of the consumer electronics industry remains in the doldrums, the custom installation trade continues to buzz. So much so that CEDIA (the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association) has added a second US trade show to its calendar. Joining its always excellent signature September event will be a spring show to be held April 18-21, 2007, at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas. It will be co-located alongside its Electronic Lifestyles Forum, which intends to bring architects, builders and interior designers closer to those CEDIA members who are experts in home networking, media rooms and home cinemas.
“One Expo annually is not enough to meet industry demand for the high-quality trade show experience CEDIA delivers,” proclaimed CEDIA President Andy Willcox.
The UK’s homegrown CEDIA Expo will be held at ExCeL, in London, from 20th to 22nd June. Wendy Griffiths, operations director for CEDIA UK says:”There’s no chance of us doing an extra spring show. It takes a huge amount of time and effort to put on both the show and more importantly, the training together for our Summer event (this year we have gone up to 165 hours of training from 90 hours). However, we are embarking on a number of training based roadshows in the rest of the area we look after (all of Europe; Africa; Middle East; India and Russia) plus we are offering training throughout the year at our offices now throughout the year, to assist with increased demand for training.”
Of the the Excel show, Wendy adds “It’s going well. We have 4 stands left to sell, which is good, considering we have increased the space from 4200 to 6000sqm.”
