Speaking at its Spring Trade Show, Toshiba confirmed that it will introduce an player into the UK this Autumn. Details remain sparse, but when pushed, a spokesman implied that it might only sell a single high-end model in Europe. In the US, the company is preparing to ship both high-end and entry-level players. The company had little to show on the unit, a Japanese HD-AX1 sample, bar a trailer compilation from Warner, and an in-house demo disc. As yet there’s no move to announce HD DVD titles from the UK arms of the main studios. Our mole within the BVA (British Videogram Association) confided that “basically they are all waiting to be told what to do by their Hollywood owners.”
