Don’t expect high-performance 1080p screens to be the preserve of household name brands for long. Trident Microsystems and The Konka Group, a leading Chinese TV manufacturer for the OEM market, are collaborating on developing standard definition and high-definition digital 1080p TVs, based upon Trident’s HiDTV and SVP video processing technology.
“Konka is ready to benefit from the rapidly-expanding digital TV market,” says David Liu, general manager of Konka’s Digital Flat Display Company. “We intend to deliver 1080p s with the best possible image quality to the OEM market.”
The partnership is expected to enable no-name brands to access advanced screen technology without massive start-up costs and so compete against the better known, and more expensive, consumer electronics brands.
