Toshiba HD DVDa vpc2006 Laptop

Toshiba will introduce the world’s first multimedia laptop with an drive, the Qosmio G30/697HS (pictured above), into the Japanese market mid-May. Along with playback of HD DVD discs, the new portable can read and write to current DVD and CD discs, including DVD+/-R DL (dual-layer) and DVD-RAM.
Beneath the lid is a dual-core CPU, the Intel Core Duo Processor T2500 running at 2.00GHz; graphics come via an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 chipset.
In the Japanese market, it sports two tuners, one for digital terrestrial broadcasts, the other for analogue. Programmes can be viewed on a 17-inch widescreen, HD capable WUXGA display with 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution. Connections include an HDMI output, allowing the PC to function as an HD DVD source.
Early PR spin had the HD DVD Qosmio ready for a Spring UK launch, but this has proved fanciful. Expect a UK introduction later this year.
