Plasma rockets Panasonic up the earnings chart

is picture perfect for Panasonic, helping it post a stella set of numbers in the latest financial quarter. The world’s biggest consumer electronics corporation, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. (parent of Panasonic and JVC) reported a profit of 40.7 billion Yen, with sales and earning up for the fourth consecutive year. Consolidated sales increased 2 per cent to 8,894.3 billion yen, up from 8,713.6 billion Yen. Much of this has come from its consumer electronics division, which is flying. AVC Network sales increased 4 per cent to 3,688.3 billion Yen, up from 3,558.8, while sales of AV equipment increased 6 per cent thanks to success with plasma TVs and digital cameras.
