Euro tech giant Philips is dancing in its corporate clogs, after posting an increase in Net Income of 160 million Euros, up from 117 Euros this time last year, in its first quarter financials.
Sales in LCD from its LG.philips joint venture were up by 49 million Euros, a 20 per cent increase, while consumer electronics jumped 16 per cent, to 2,423 million Euros, driven mainly by the switch from CRT to flatpanels.
According to the company, one financial highlight of the last year has been the success of its HD tuner chip for the American TV market. “Since launching the Nexperia TV05 Reference, Philips has shipped over one million chips.” The latest company to use its reference design is Dell.
