Original pre-digital Star Wars trilogy coming to DVD

Star Wars

The original trilogy is coming to DVD. Just as fans were giving up on ever seeing the un-tinkered classic versions of the movies, Lucasfilm has confirmed a Sept. 12 release for the orginal cuts. They will each come in a two disc set, bundled with the updated alternative. These special editions will remain on sale only until the end of the year.
Lucasfilm will present the movies exactly as they were first seen. That means the original Star Wars title crawl rather than Episode IV –A New Hope, clunky original FX work and… and Han Solo shooting Greedo first.
Says Jim Ward, president of LucasArts and SVP of Lucasfilm, “a countless number of fans have told us that they would love to see and own the original version that they remember experiencing in theaters. We turned to the Lucasfilm Archives to search exhaustively for source material that could be presented on DVD.”
