TV glass is the new gold, at least in the eyes of Japanese CE producers.  Asahi Glass Co., which specializes in producing glass panels for LCD TVs, is the latest Corporation to announce a huge capital investment in panel production.  It says it will sink 100 billion Yen in the three years to 2007, to boost its production to meet soaring demand.
Japanese analysts estimate the Japanese flatscreen market was worth 2 trillion Yen in 2005.  According to industry observers at the Dai-ichi Life Research Institute, flatpanel demand in Japan will rise to 27 trillion Yen by  2011.
