Korean Scientists Develop Female Android

The news that Korean boffins have developed a distinctly female android (click on the link above) fires the imagination with a blizzard of images from classic SF flicktion – Blade Runner, Metropolis, Battlestar Galactica, amongst others.
The new Korean babebot stands 1.6 metres tall, can recognise 400 words (make up your own jokes here), and manage assorted facial expressions (ditto). She apparently cost 3 billion Won to make.
She’s not the first female robot, though. Japan had one in 2003 called Actroid, but she was unable to move – which one might argue made it less of a robot, more of a ZX Spectrum in a frock. This model ultimately is conceived as a robotic help in department stores, although more interesting career choices obviously beckon…
