Nintendo sets UK date and price for DS Lite

Nintendo DS Lite white

Nintendo has confirmed June 23 as the UK launch date for its Lite handheld games system. Available in either black or white, it will sell for around £100. Defying predictions that it would take a backseat to Sony’s , the DS has become the little handheld that could, selling 16 million units worldwide (four million in Europe).
Despite weighing nearly 60g less than the original DS, it retains all its features, including voice recognition and Wi-Fi, and adds variable screen brightness, a repositioned microphone and a larger stylus.
Innovative software upcoming includes Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? (out June 9), Nintendogs Dalmatian & Friends Edition (June 16) and New Super Mario Bros (June 30). With the DS, Ninty has clearly regained lost form and this can only bode well for the Wii.
