Talk of PC AV integration premature says Intel

June 8th, 2006 · No Comments

It looks like pundits will be talking up the convergence of AV and IT for some time to come. Eric Kim, Intel’s chief marketing executive has played down any PC invasion of the living room.
Speaking in Korea, he says that it could take five more years before the average TV becomes receptive to the advances of the media centre revolution. His comments came during a briefing about Intel’s upcoming move into healthcare technology. “Hospitals and healthcare are way behind in the IT field,” he said.
Intel launched its home entertainment platform earlier this year. Viiv has been designed to integrate TV and video recording, with music, games playing and home networking.
