Blank HD media supplies begin

June 17th, 2006 · No Comments

Maxell and Verbatim have both confirmed that they will introduce blank HD media this Summer. Verbatim’s 2X speed write-once and rewriteable media will be available first, during July. The discs are being manufactured by Mitsubishi Kagaku Media, and will be produced in Mizushima, Japan.
All of Verbatim discs will be protected by a proprietary hard-coat finish to reduce scratch and fingerprint damage.
Maxell will begin by offering BD-R and BD-RE Blu-ray stock in August. The company has confirmed that it will add write-once and rewriteable (or as it is being dubbed re-recordable) discs to its line in September.
