Toshiba plans portable media centres

June 17th, 2006 · No Comments

Toshiba is adopting the Microsoft Media Centre platform for its upcoming Gigabeat portable entertainment range. Available in either 30GB or 60GB configurations, the new models will play back video in both Windows Media or MPEG-4 video formats on a 2.4 inch screen, at a resolution of 320 x 240.
Both new video Gigabeat models will be compatible with Windows Media DRM 10 secured content. Audio compatibility includes MP3, WMA Lossless and WAV. They will also display JPEG image files.
Helpfully both can be connected direct to a TV screen via a supplied AV cable. Expect them to debut later in the year.
