Beleaguered consumer electronics company Pioneer is taking a leaf out of Apple and Sony’s book, announcing that it will open its own Pioneer-branded shops.
The first is due to open in August, in the prestigious South Coast Plaza mall, Orange County.
The 3,200 square-foot designer store will feature a full range of Pioneer consumer electronics products, including screens and in-car equipment. It will also be the place to find esoteric Pioneer gear which normally would not receive distribution outside of Japan, including a range of designer home theatre furniture.
The company will follow the US opening with its own Tokyo-based Pioneer destination store plus other retail outlets across China. If successful, further Pioneer stores could be rolled out internationally.
