Panasonic closes CRT picture tube factory

Panasonic, or rather its parent Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd, is to close its Malaysian CRT factory, MT Picture Display, a Malaysian subsidiary of the Matsushita Toshiba Picture Display Company.

Sony announces two Freeview DVD recorders

Sony is introducing two new Freeview tuner HDD/DVD recorders. The RDR-HXD560 (pictured above) has an 80GB hard drive able to record 106 hours of TV, while the RDR-HXD860 (pictured below) has a 160GB drive capable of storing 249 hours.

Sales are up but the JVC mood remains downbeat

Sharp LCD sales go from strength to strength
