BenQ to launch cheap Blu-ray PC burner

BenQ is to launch a competitively priced burner this August. Its BW1000 can burn to single and double layer Blu-ray media (25GB or 50GB) and has writing speeds of 2x for BD-R/-RE single-layer and DL (single-sided double-layer) discs; 12x for DVD+R/-R; 4x for DVD+R/-R DL; 8x for DVD+RW/-RW; 32x for CD-R and 24x for CD-RW. A price of little over 1,000 US dollars, and 799 Euros, has been quoted.
