Hollywood studios tie up with P2P site for movies and TV

July 6th, 2006 · No Comments

Peer Impact (motto: “it pays to share”) is the latest P2P file-sharing service to ink a deal to deliver legitimate downloads. An agreement with 20th Century Fox, NBC Universal, and Warner Brothers means films and TV shows are now available for download in Windows Media Video format using Windows Media 10 DRM technology.
TV shows can be purchased online for 99 cents, with films available for between 2.99 and 3.99 dollars. All files are encoded at 1.6Mbps data rate.
The service is expected to offer smaller files for viewing on portable devices at a later date.
