Toshiba increases the capacity of SD memory cards

July 7th, 2006 · No Comments

Toshiba will introduce high capacity versions of its microSD and SDHC memory cards worldwide this Summer. The microSD Memory Card is currently the world’s smallest memory card, at just a quarter of the size of the miniSD card. It’s designed primarily for mobile phone applications. Toshiba will introduce 256 MB, 512MB and 1GB capacity miniSD cards throughout July and August.
The newer SDHC Memory Cards are large capacity variants of standard SD cards. They can store between 2GB and a theoretical 32GB. They also support maximum write speeds of 6MB per second. This makes them ideal for video applications. Toshiba will introduce a 4GB SDHC card in September.
