Toshiba HD DVD recorder interface revealed

Those waiting for Toshiba’s debut recorder, the RD-A1, to come to the UK may be in for a long wait. Lacking any means of recording an external HD signal input, the unit relies entirely on its built-in Japanese HD tuner to record images to either blank HD DVD disc or 1-terabyte hard drive.
As yet there is no specification for an HDMI interface to link set top boxes to recording devices. And with Sky having the monopoly on HD receiving equipment, don’t expect the satcaster to welcome Toshiba to its exclusive Sky+ club anytime soon. Still, that shouldn’t allow us from enjoying these colourful images of the recorder’s GUI in all their high-def glory (pictured below).
