Both Blu-ray and HD DVD push at US trade show

Both and enjoyed a big push at the recent Video Software Dealers Association 2006 trade event, held in Las Vegas. At the Blu-ray Cafe, Samsung players ran material from the first batch of studios to excite attending dealers. Elsewhere, HD DVD demonstrations were being run from various hotel suites.
The HD DVD promotional group claimed that consumer demand would swell during the Christmas season. The much anticipated HD DVD release of Begins, which promises an ambitious raft of all-new interactive supplemental features, is now scheduled for an autumn debut. One factor slowing down wider title release is thought to be high def authoring. A basic HD DVD authoring bill is said to be 20,000 US dollars – and that’s without any interactive features
