Pioneer announces high-specification DVD recorders

July 19th, 2006 · 1 Comment

Pioneer DVR-545HX
Pioneer is to introduce three new DVD/HDD recorders. The first three models to ship are the DVR-440HX, with 80GB drive, the DVR-545HX-s (pictured above), with a 160GB HDD, and the DVR-645H, with 250GB drive.
Coming later this year is the high-end DVR-940HX-s, with an as yet unspecified HDD capacity. All have an integrated digital TV tuner, multi-format drive compatible with –R/RW/DL, +R/RW/DL and RAM media, and jukebox function, enabling jpegs and MP3 to be stored and played on the hard drive (now dubbed an ‘entertainment engine’ by Pioneer).
Each model has a pair of front-mounted USB ports, which allow for a pict-bridge printer to be connected direct to the recorder, to print digital snaps from the hard drive, as well as for a direct camera connection. The recorders also have a host of fast copying and editing functionality, as well as a fancy new GUI.
