HDMI fees dropped to drive take-up

In an effort to curb unlicensed HDMI cables and rogue hardware implementation, the HDMI licensing group has slashed the administration fee that manufacturers must pay if they want put the all-digtal video ports into hardware, or bring out cables, from 15,000, to 10,000 US dollars.
The reduction is clearly meant to woo the Chinese manufacturing industry responsible for a growing number of CE products. “This reduction will make it easier for smaller manufacturers to license the HDMI specification,” offered a hopeful Leslie Chard, HDMI Licensing president. Currently more than 400 manufacturers have signed up.
