PVR owners officially watch more TV

August 17th, 2006 · No Comments

Owners of s watch more TV! So reads the not so startling conclusion of a new survey by the Nielsen research group. What is eye-opening though is that the vast majority of the TV watched is live rather than pre-recorded.
Adult US owners goggle on average 6 hours and 14 minutes of live prime time content per week, with an additional 1 hour and 49 minutes played back on their PVRs.
Nielsen says this is 29 percent more TV than non- owners. Figures for full-day viewing reveal that 18-49 year-olds eyeball an average of 25 hours per week of live telly, with just under four hours time-shifted.
So do these figures reveal a big difference between US and UK PVR owners? Surely the AV zombie team can’t be unusual in watching virtually all TV time-shifted via a Sky+?
