Canon to debut domestic HD camcorder

August 23rd, 2006 · No Comments

Canon will join Sony in offering a high-definition domestic camcorder. The ultra-compact HV10 HDV records up to 1080i resolution onto DV tape and features a 2.7inch 16:9 LCD screen, 10x optical zoom with a 200x digital zoom and 1920×1080 CMOS image sensor.
Also making its debut on the model is an Instant AF system, designed to improve speed and accuracy in both normal and low light environments, the company’s pro-style Super Image Stabilizer and proprietary DIGIC DV II image processor. In addition to HD video, the HV10 can also take 3 megapixel still images, which it stores onto MiniSD cards, or 2 megapixel images recorded onto tape.
Also due from Canon later this year is a DVD camcorder which uses DVD-R/-RW discs, as well as DL (double-layer) discs able store nearly two hours of standard definition video.
