Yamaha has completed the UK tuning of its Soavo high-end loudspeakers and is expected to introduce them this Autumn. The range, which will debut as a pair or floorstanders (pictured above), but will expand to include rear surrounds for use, a 600w active subwoofer and bookshelf designs, have all been designed by Japanese visionary Toshiyuki Kita, and have no parallel sides.
Ken Kamoshida (pictured below), Yamaha UK’s Managing Director, has overseen the UK tuning of the speakers and reveals the “originally there were going to be several versions of the Soavo floorstanders, each tuned for specific markets. However the UK tuning project has turned out so well, that the UK versions are now the models which will be used by Yamaha worldwide.”
The Soavo stereo pair, which use use A-PMD (advanced polymer-injected Mica diaphragm) cones, will debut at around 1,800 UK pounds each and will be available in Natural Birch. Yamaha says it has been working on this high-end speaker project for around eighteen months.
