September 1st, 2006 · No Comments

Samsung will launch its BD-P1000 Blu-ray player in the UK this October. The model, which is already available in the US, aims to beat Panasoni’s BMP-BD10, which was announced yesterday, to market.
“Our Blu-ray player will be the first available to consumers, and we plan to continue to innovate with our introduction of a Blu-ray recorder later this year,” promised Gee Sung Choi, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics’ Digital Media Business. “Samsung is demonstrating its leadership in driving the next generation optical format.”
The player will also spin standard DVDs and CDs and is compatible with DVD-RAM, DVD-RW and DVD-R. Additional features of the BD-P1000 include memory card reader and pop-up and always-on menu options.
