Reports that the Nintendo Wii will sell for 149 UK pounds and be on sale for November 24 have been dismissed by UK Nintendo chief David Yarnton. He branded the story “speculation”, although admits that the details are “not far off.”
It’s feasible that with Sony now out of the picture for the key buying season, Nintendo is looking to maximize the price point of its new console in the short term, and is revising the price upwards.
Nintendo says that it does not anticipate any product shortages in the run up to Christmas. IBM has recently confirmed that it has begun shipping micro-processors for the unit.
