Toshiba announces second gen HD DVD players

September 17th, 2006 · No Comments

Toshiba has unveiled second generation HD DVD players for the American market.
The HD-A2 (pictured above) will debut in October for 499 US dollars, its bigger brother, the 1080p HD-XA2, will appear (hopefully) at the end of the year and sell for 999 dollars.
The two models, first seen at the European IFA show, feature slimline designs and the more expensive of the two boasts all new silicon. Slow disc loading times, a complaint of the first generation models, are said to have been “reduced by half.”
