The world’s finest super heroes will make their debut on high definition disc this autumn.
First hero out of the gate is Batman. Warner will unleash Batman Begins on HD DVD, on October 10. The eagerly awaited blockbuster will feature a variety of next generation extras, including a video commentary from the director and behind-the-scenes footage; Warner calls these picture-in-picture supplementals an ‘In-movie Experience’.
Bruce Wayne’s super-friend Clark Kent will follow on November 28. Warner says it will release Superman Returns as an HD DVD Combo disc, the flipper format with HD DVD on one side and standard DVD on the other, as well as in a standalone Blu-ray edition.
On the same day, the studio will also ship the 14 disc Superman Ultimate Collector’s Edition set on standard DVD. The set, which comes in a collectors tin along with a reproduction vintage Superman comic book, contains Superman Returns: Special Edition, Superman II:The Richard Donner Cut, Superman: The Movie Four Disc Special Edition, Superman II Two Disc Special Edition and Superman III and IV Deluxe Editions, along with 20 hours of extra content, including documentaries The Cinematic Saga of Superman; Look Up in the Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman plus Returns director Bryan Singer’s video journal.
