Sony is bringing its highly regarded SXRD (Silicon X-tal Reflective Display) projection TVs into Europe. Its much-anticipated A2000 and R2000 models feature 1080p resolution screen sizes up to 70-inches.
The 55-inch A2000 and 70-inch R2000 SXRD models promise best-in-class projection TV performance, courtesy of the latest iteration of Sony’s Digital Reality Creation HD-HD processing. Prices are expected to range from 2,300 to 4,000 pounds, which is considerably cheaper than equivalent flatscreens.
SXRD screens offer a large image free of any obvious grid structure, for a highly cinematic picture.
They will be joined by a range of LCD micro display projection TVs with Freeview digital tuners. Dubbed the W2000 series, they will come in 40-inch or 46-inch screen sizes and offer 1080p resolution, a Wide Colour Gamut backlight and twin HDMI inputs, for 2,000 and 2,500 pounds respectively. Picture processing is effectively the same as that used on the company’s BRAVIA LCD range.
