Panasonic will introduce its first 1080p LCD projector this autumn. The new PT-AE1000 (pictured above) has a 2x optical zoom lens with lens-shift able to project a 100-inch image between 10 to 20 feet away from the screen.
The firm rates brightness at 1,100 ANSI lumens and contrast at a class leading 11,000:1.
Picture processing includes 14-bit dynamic gamma correction. Design-wise the projector is rather larger and more serious than its predecessors. “This is because it’s more of an enthusiast model,” said a spokesperson. “We think this model will be permanently mounted in a home cinema installation.”
