Samsung profits bounce back

October 16th, 2006 · No Comments

Things are looking up for Samsung. Declaring its third quarter results, the South Korean giant revealed that its net profit jumped by 45 percent thanks largely to healthy sales of DRAM memory chips.
Samsung posted 2.19 trillion won of net profit on sales of 15.22 trillion won. Its operating profit was 1.85 trillion won. Year-on-year this means its net profits were up 16 percent.
Chu Woo-sik, Samsung’s vice president of investor relations hinted that the company expects to announce strong results for the fourth quarter too, as the introduction of Windows Vista is expected to further boost its DRAM business.
