Smallville TV show flies onto HD DVD

Smallville is to be the first TV series to be released on disc in HD. Warner will issue the fifth season of the superhero show as a five-disc box set on November 28 in America, priced under eighty dollars.
It was chosen to coincide with a variety of Superman movie releases from the studio, including Superman: The Movie, its newly re-edited follow-up Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut and recent blockbuster Superman Returns on HD DVD and .
The set includes the same special features as the DVD box set, including unaired scenes, two commentaries and a documentary on the show’s 100th episode, plus an HD featurette on the making of the season opening episode.
“Warner strives to deliver viewers the latest technologies in order to create the ultimate in-home viewing experience,” said  Rosemary Markson, WHV’s VP of TV marketing.
