Sony says game over for PSP importer

October 26th, 2006 · No Comments

Popular import gaming site Lik-Sang.com has closed down, blaming Sony Computer Entertainment Europe which has launched multiple legal actions against it. Sony insists that the retailer infringed its trade marks, copyright and design rights. The closure follows a recent high court action which branded its Asian PSP imports to the UK illegal.
Sony maintains the lawsuit was necessary to protect UK consumers from “being sold hardware that does not conform to strict EU or UK consumer safety standards, due to voltage supply differences et cetera”. Lik-Sang countered that all the PSP consoles it shipped contained Sony 100V-240V AC Adapters which sport CE and other safety marks and were compatible world wide.  The company’s Gerald Siegel told AV zombie “It’s an awful situation, we are all very sad to lose our jobs.”
