Sky HD subscribers approach 100,000

November 5th, 2006 · No Comments

BSkyB says that its Sky subscriber base more than doubled during the last quarter, to 96,000, making high definition the fastest ever take-up of an additional Sky product.
Its debut Sky HD receiver has already achieved three times the sales levels achieved by Sky+ in its first year.
According to the latest data from industry analyst GFK, around one million HD Ready TV screens will be sold in the UK in the run up to Christmas. This puts the latest estimate at one in ten UK homes being HD Ready by the end of the year.
As part of its Autumn promotion, any new or existing Sky customer who spends 169 pounds or more on any TV in a participating store can save 150 quid on the cost of their Sky HD box when they subscribe to Sky HD. The channel is also continuing with its 150 pound cash-back offer on selected Sony BRAVIA TVs.
