Sony to lose 240 dollars on every PS3 sold

Market research company iSuppli has broken down the component cost of a and is speculating that the company is losing around 240 dollars on every unit sold. Its so-called ‘teardown’ analysis concludes that the material and manufacturing cost of the PS3 is around 860 dollars for 60GB version, and forty dollars less for the 20GB version – and that doesn’t include packaging, controllers or other stuff. iSuppli’s tech team conclude that the games console is “an engineering masterpiece.”
iSuppli’s teardown analysis of the Xbox 360 however, reveals that Microsoft is making a profit of 79 dollars on each premium system it sells.
