Tivo to embrace web video content

November 18th, 2006 · No Comments

US TiVo owners will soon be able to watch web video on their series 2 and 3 models. A new software update introduces a service which allows users to create an Internet channel which to view content from a selection of specific online media partners, including CBS and Reuters. This TiVoCast service will be available to users as part of their basic subscription package, early in 2007.
Other enhancements include the ability to stream non-copyrighted sound and video from their PC to their TiVos, as well as upload, distribute and view home made video via One True Media (www.onetruemedia.com). A Season Pass for One True Media can be set up so that all content uploaded by one creator will be automatically downloaded by receptive TiVos. The company believes this will be used by family members who wish to quickly and conveniently distribute home videos. One True Media will charge a 3.99 dollars a month subscription fee for its service.
