US retail giant Best Buy has eased back on its promotion of both and movie discs. The highest-profile retailer in the States says that lack of consumer interest, thought to be caused by the format-battle, is behind the move. A spokesman said that after the initial rush of early adopters, many consumers have decided to sit the squabble out.
Instead the store is focusing its hard sell on the games machine, alongside wand-waving rival, the Nintendo , as well as make space for what is expected to be a thriving third party accessory market.
High-end cable maker Monster is the first out of the gate to offer a line of interconnects specifically made for the Blu-ray-based console. Amongst its GameLink range is a 100 dollar HDMI cable and a 70 dollar component and digital audio cable. Says self-proclaimed head monster Noel Lee “The PlayStation 3 is a state-of-the-art entertainment platform. But experiencing its exceptional audio and video capabilities means it’s crucial to properly connect it with high-performance cables, something that’ss not found inside the box.”
