LCD TV business no longer cash cow

January 4th, 2007 · No Comments

According to the latest data from market researcher iSuppli, worldwide LCD TV shipments are predicted to rise 57 percent to 62.5 million units in 2007. This represents a significant slowdown in the growth of the market. Also falling is the amount of revenue the market is worth. iSuppli estimates that LCD factory revenue to will rise only by 20 percent (to around 53.5 billion dollars) as the average selling price of panels continues to fall.
The key trend will be towards larger LCD screen sizes. Around 2.3 million 40-inch sets are expected to ship globally by the end of the year.
