LG HD DVD Blu-Ray combi not the Full Monty

January 7th, 2007 · No Comments

The much publicised HD DVD Blu-ray combo player from LG will not offer full HD DVD compatibility, the company has revealed. Speaking at the CES in Las Vegas, the brand confirmed that while its combi player will play HD DVD movie discs it will not offer the full interactive functionality of the system. Users will not even see the onscreen menu system on an HD DVD disc. Instead, the player will default to its own menu. The deck will also not play CDs. Connectivity includes HDMI v1.2.
LG’s combi deck is expected to sell for 1200 dollars when it launches in the US this Spring. A European launch is being promised for later in the year.
