Lycos sues TiVo, Blockbuster and Netflix

January 17th, 2007 · No Comments

Search engine Lycos has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against TiVo, Netflix and Blockbuster, claiming that the trio have infringed its filtering technology, used to give consumers online recommendations based upon their personal viewing preferences. Lycos is seeking a cease and desist order against all the companies involved, as well as royalties. Ironically, both Netflix and Blockbuster are already embroiled in litigation over patents for online preference technology.
