Sky sales high, Anytime TV announced

Heavy marketing has kept the Sky bandwagon rolling forward. The satcaster has announced that in the last quarter of 2006 sales of its products and services exceeded one million for the first time. The total number of Sky TV customers rose to 8.441 million, up 183,000, with Sky+ racking up 1.97 million timeshifters. Sky HD is also exceeding expectations. Says James Murdoch, Sky’s Chief Executive, “Sky HD almost doubled in size after a strong Christmas sales period, as more customers took the chance to enjoy the truly amazing picture quality of high definition TV.”
Launching in March is a new service called Anytime TV, which will enable viewers to watch a selection of the week’s programmes on-demand. The programmes will be ‘pushed’ into the reserved space of the hard drives on Sky+ and Sky HD boxes by the broadcaster.
