Burger King promotion for Xbox a whopping success

February 1st, 2007 · No Comments

It seems an unlikely combo, but a joint promotion stateside between Burger King and Microsoft has given both brands a boost. A recent wheeze to offer video games as an incentive for BK’s Value Meals has seen Burger King’s profits soar and interest in all things Xbox boom. Gamers have been snapping up copies of Pocketbike Racer, Big Bumpin’ and Sneak King and have seemingly discovered a love of BK burgers in the process.
As a result, the fast food chain has posted a second-quarter profit of 38 million dollars, up 41 per cent year-on-year. Gamers have been able to pick up the BK-themed Xbox titles for just 3.99 dollars, when purchased alongside a BK Value meal. More than 3.2 million titles have been sold to date. Given its success stateside, it’s perhaps only a matter of time before the same burger and game strategy is adopted for Europe.
