No room for HD DVD in Australia

When it comes to the ongoing HD disc format war, most UK retailers are trying hard to accommodate both and technologies. In Australia though, it seems a different story. Leading consumer electronics outlet JB Hi-Fi has decided to simplify the buying choice by not stocking HD DVD players at all. According to Marketing Director Scott Browning, his “consumers don’t give a rat’s arse about products. They are more about buying an experience and Blu Ray delivers that.” Browning believes that the March launch of the in the territory will be decisive for the format. JB Hi-Fi estimates that as many as 200,000 PS3s will be sold in Australia this year. The company says it intends to continue to offer the HD DVD Xbox 360 drive, however.
