Panasonic upgrades Blu-ray player for HD audio and AVCHD

February 26th, 2007 · No Comments

Panasonic will release new firmware for its DMP-BD10 player which upgrades it’s audio decoder to support both Dolby trueHD and DTS HD high-resolution audio.  The firmware will be made available here. It follows an update to improve picture quality and extend disc compatibility to AVCHD format home-shot discs.
Panasonic will also ship a new version of the player to retail, the DMP-BD10A, which has the audio firmware update as standard.
The actual chassis of the DMP-BD10A is the same as the original model, and still lacks an Ethernet port. However, it sports a revised version of the company’s HDAVI control system, now dubbed VIERA Link, which allows users to operate multiple HDMI-connected components with a single remote control.
